 Questions

What do doctors of chiropractic do?

Chiropractic care is used to maintain and restore proper body mechanics. When muscles are tense or there has been an injury, those structures pull and prevent proper movement of the joints of the body — particularly the spine. This can lead to several mechanical problems (here is a great link for more explanation). You can think of this as a kink or catch of the joint. With a variety of muscle physical therapies and gentle joint mobilization, proper alignment and mobility can be restored.

What happens on a visit?

We provide several services at our clinic. First, an examination including orthopedic and neurological tests will be done (x-rays of the area may be necessary to reveal any pathologies). Following an exam to determine your diagnosis, a typical visit might include some soft tissue therapy to relax tense muscles, reduce inflammation or swelling, or "retrain" damaged structure. If these soft tissue problems have altered normal joint movement or mechanics, we will provide a gentle mobilization.

Does the treatment hurt?

No. In fact, most patients look forward to their visit because of the relief they get. Modern techniques and therapies allow us to treat patients without discomfort. Chiropractic is one of the safest forms of treatment available today, and Doctors of Chiropractic have specialized training in this area of health care.

How long does it take to get better?

That depends on the condition. Most minor problems show relief with just a couple of treatments. If you have been involved in an accident or other trauma, tissues must be healed properly and in their own time. In addition to your care, we will provide you with specific self help instructions.

Does insurance pay for treatment?

Our office also is in network with several area insurance HMO's such as; Medica, United Healthcare, Preferred One, Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Great West, PHCS, Definity, America’s PPO, Medicare, and a few others. If you have been injured while working or if you recently have been in an automobile accident, your care may be covered at 100%. If you have any questions about your particular coverage, please contact our office.

What if I need more testing?

Our clinic has a referral network with dozens of medical doctors and clinics. If your condition requires specialized testing, a CT or MRI scan, or a second opinion — we will make sure that you receive the proper referral to the correct specialist. We often work together with other providers so you get the care that is best for your condition.

Do you only treat back pain?

No. We treat many muscle, joint, ligament and nervous system conditions. If you have an ache or pain, conservative care should always be your first choice.
